  • You have to laugh. One of the non payers paid up (eventually). I posted out the next day and the day after that she asked me where her item was.
  • I don't use the second chance or send offers to buyers. 50% non payment. Just click and pay.

2 days ago a buyer accepted an ofer from me. Buyer had sent a couple of offers which I countered and then sent a message asking for my best price as he only had one offer left. I sent that best offer and he accepted immediately.

Since then, nothing , we went from exchanging messages, discussing prices yet 2 full days later no payment. I am getting totally fed up with this now.

I think the only answer is for eBay to do what they have with Best Offers, i.e. charge the winning bidder automatically at the end of the listing. I've had yet another of these losers this week, do they even still get a strike on their accounts for non-payment?

They do get a strike and sellers can block buyers with 2 or more strikes - which means my ones aren’t persistent non payers.

There is a thread running here on MSE  about the trial requiring buyers to pay immediately on a successful offer by pre registering a payment method, I’ve had that a few times, but my last few don’t seem to have been part of the trial which is a shame.

My one still hasn’t paid, I don’t send an invoice as that resets the 4 day clock, but I did send a message saying this was ready to be sent if they would like to make payment, and as it looks like I’m being ignored I’ve already blocked them from buying from me again.

I can’t believe I’m the only one with such a huge percentage of non payers on offers , it’s enough to make me paranoid. 2 accepted offers this week, one paid and one hasn’t , which gives me a  50% percentage of unpaid this week so far.

I suspect that if eBay allowed you to block people with 1 strike then these wasters might take paying for things they've bought more seriously.

That said, the existing rule does catch the odd one... I had one message me to say that the my settings meant he couldn't bid & could I change them? No prizes for guessing my response...

  • I’ve another non payer too and I only sell about three or four items a week.  It’s getting to the stage where I have more non payers than payers.

    I hate dishonesty.
  • I’ve just been having a nose at my latest non payers’ feedback.  Amongst their feedbacks for sales, there’s also four positive feedbacks but all in capitals saying …avoid…..non payer…etc.

i find it worse that they’re a seller, with items currently listed, so they would know how upsetting it is not being paid.  I feel like bidding on all of their stuff and not paying…but I won’t.

How long does it take eBay to banish them?

They don’t get banished, sellers can block non payers though with 2 or more strikes in the past year. Unfortunately leaving positive feedback almost certainly means the strike has been removed or a full NPB process not undertaken.
