Streisand effect comes into action again... The number of adblockers downloaded and searches relating to adblockers
    has increased massively.

Users that have never used adblockers are now looking for them and/or installing them.

I click back or close on any website that has intrusive adverts.  Bring back simple fixed image sidebar adverts, they
were tolerable. The drivel pushed out these days is not worth the data allowance cost even if that is free.

  • Just install the uBlock Origin addon for your browser and enjoy life again.  I've had uBlock Origin (aka uBo) installed for many years now and I can't fault it.
If you do install uBlock Origin and see adverts on YouTube later, you just need to open uBo's settings, click the Purge all caches button in the Filter lists tab, then click on Update now (next to the Purge all caches button), wait for the updated lists to download and enjoy.

uBlock Origin on Firefox is a mess on my system although I have blocked a LOT like shorts and all the junk scattered around the screen.

Prior to their purge on ad-blockers the only thing on my screen was a short list of channels I subscribe to and the centre section of videos.
Nothing else at all.  But now everything is greyed out, none of the videos are visible.  Probably fairly unique to my setup of blocked items.

Switched to Brave with uBlock Origin and added the same list of blocks and it's all working fine.

For android only you can get grayjay. An open source app released recently by Louis Rossman, the guy fighting for Right to Repair. It allows you to watch multiple streaming services in one app. This isn't an advert, the long winded point is, if you watch YouTube in it, you get no adverts.

Video Lite is another app one. There's an ad on first opening and then that's it.
