No, you are writing to an organisation not an individual. The correct salutation is Dear Sirs.

Yes, it is generally advisable to copy the claimant on correspondence to the court, especially when it is about matters like costs applications. This ensures transparency and avoids any argument from the claimant that they were not given an opportunity to respond or were unaware of your application.

When you send your letter to the court requesting costs, include a copy of the letter to the claimant or their solicitors. You can add a note at the bottom of your letter to the court indicating:

"CC: [Claimant or Claimant's Solicitors Name and Address]"

Dear [insert organisation name] is becoming an increasingly common gender-neutral alternative.

    UPDATE!

Early Christmas present arrived in the post. An Order from the court stating ...

"The Court considers that the Claimant has behaved unreasonably ..."

And the best bit, which I have re-read many times over the last couple of days as it fills my heart with Christmas joy ...

"The Claimant shall pay to the Defendant costs ..."

    :-)
    Brilliant news! Well done.

Please can we see the Order with the date, Claimant, Claim Number, Judge and Court showing?

And what did you put in your email?

Others could use it in future!

    Cover your name of course.
