Travel republic and missed flights

My recent holiday to las vegas went to plan until i missed my flight home.
Travel republics most recent communication informed me that the return transfer to the airport was booked for 17:50 for a 21:00 flight.
When I arrived i learned the flight was in fact 17:50.
I contacted travel republics emergency number. Travel republic have acknowledged they misinformed me of the time of the flight on the most recent communication and had the transfer arranged for the wrong time.
Travel Republic went on to point out that in june they sent an email advising me of the 17:50 flight and that their terms and conditions advise its my responsibility to check with the airline within 24hrs of the flight in case of any changes to flight times. As a result they would not accept responsibility.
I would argue they have a responsibility on the basis there were no flight time changes within the final 24hrs before the flight and it is resonable for me to accept their most recent communication as superceding the contact in june.
Travel republic claimed to have tried to arrange me a further nights stay in vegas without success. I managed to arrange it with the first hotel i contacted.
I managed to arranged my further transfers. Virgin atlantic were fantastic and arranged flights home the following day free of charge which might have cost in the region of $3000 for the two of us.
I am planning to seek compensation for the cost of an additional nights stay, two taxis and the cost of the missed flight all due to their customer service failure.
I plan to seek compensation directly with travel republic and if they are not agreeable i may be covered by my travel insurance and/section 75 as i paid with my credit card.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you.

As above, your claim should be limited to your actual losses. The free flight home "put you right" on that score, so there's nothing to claim there. The additional night and the cost of the taxis (presumably one back from the missed flight and one the next day for the actual flight home?) are the things you should be claiming for.1

a good lesson on not relying on third party information and to check your booking regularly on the airline website. Did you try and check in online in advance?1
