Hello- I have received 3 letters from DRP asking for 3 payments of £170. Although I am the owner of the car I was not driving, a family member was and is insured to do so. Should I pay or ignore? Conflicting advice on Google! I would be grateful for any help. I live in Glasgow/ Scotland. Thanks!!

Just the sort of thing you step in when walking into a cow field
DRP are only money scammers and totally powerless fools that you take no notice of. IGNORE THE FOOLS.
Even better as it's in Scorland ... was the parking ticket in Scotland ?
Regardless, what the fools at DRP are doing adding fake amounts, they are approved money scammers by the BPA, THE BRITISH PARKING ASSOCIATION .... that is where this scam started
MP's in Scotland are anti money scammers like DRP , Pete Wishart is one, not far from you, he is a supporter of the new Code of Practice which will cull these money scammers like DRP and the PPC
Make contact and ignore the crazy sewer living DRP2 -
Thank you so very much for sending your message! The Debt Recovery Plus letters state they are for “Failure to pay for duration of stay”. Also “Due to no response a tracing service was utilised” to obtain car owners address. As you can tell I am extremely worried and could I just double check with you that I should be “sensible” and “ignore” ? Once again my thanks for your time and message! 🙏0

The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collectors letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.

Once again my thanks for your time and message! 🙏The Debt Recovery Plus contract with the Private Parking Company is on a no win no fee basis they will just make threats and bully you do not fall for it they can't do diddly squat what ever their silly letters say so stop worrying.Eventually they will give in and hand it back to the PPC who won't go any further as it's in Scotland where the rules are different to England and Wales.Just don't let on who the driver was, they have no right to know, and DR+ found the keeper not the owner's address.4

I thought everyone in Scotland knew you can (within reason) ignore parking operators.
Amazed some Scottish drivers don't know that they are safe in Scotland from parking sharks at the moment (the law is changing in 2024 but you can find that out with a quick search of the forum, saving us having to repeat ourselves too much...).
However, we are not saying deliberately accumulate PCNs because abusing car parking facilities is not what this forum is about AND collecting lots of PCNs can be a way for a few PPCs to try a very rare claim in Scotland.Obviously you can ignore the PPC and Debt demands but the NEWBIES thread already explains this (and about Scotland).
Start reading parking t&cs signs in retail parks, pubs, gyms and supermarkets though. The law is changing as already covered in other threads and drivers in Scotland will need to be more careful next year onwards.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
