Worth raising as an issue with MIB?

Although they are not "uninsurable" as such.

Just not insurable for reasonable cost.

You might need to go to a specialist broker.

Not really much different to trying to insure a Sierra Cosworth back in the day.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.38% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2024)

If these (Comprehensive) premiums are that high, what is the price for Third Party Only?

It's almost at the point of self insuring for the additional Fire, Theft and AD risks.

Or sell it for another brand.
Unfortunately this was just for 3rd party!

I've had it listed for sale for about 5 weeks now without getting a sniff. But the fact I've had no interest in it despite it being priced low very much makes sense if it's practically impossible to get insured on...

    😑

Have you got somewhere off road to keep it, if you were to SORN it?

It would be cheaper to just buy something else in the meantime, especially for such low mileage needs.
Yes, I've been thinking that SORN might be my only option. Total hassle though, was hoping to avoid it!

Presumably you've also checked quite for comprehensive cover but if not do check then - it's often cheaper than third party only (though not necessarily so if the main risk is theft).

TPO and TPFT are normally more expensive than Comp because of negative selection/ the types of people that buy TPO/TPFT more than offsets the fact there is no own vehicle damage over for accidents.

It'd certainly be worth trying some specialist brokers to see if you can get a better price with a tracker or immobilizer, etc. That should mitigate some of the risk.

    I should think so.
You won't believe what people are like.

You would think that no-one in their right mind would buy a used RangeRover, ecoboom Ford or a wet belt Peugeot/Citroen so they should be only worth their weight in scrap once out of warranty, yet they still sell like hot cakes for good money. (And then owners post on here when they explode/seize up or just stop working...)

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
