Bed slats cutting into new mattress

I've got a new mattress, and after 1 months went to turn it over and our slats are really making bad marks on it which is a worry
Any suggestions of what (or what not) to use to cover the slats
We have this for 100 day trial and don't want to ruin it just in case
thanks in advance

Do you have an old blanket or duvet that could go under the mattress?0

We were told by the individual who sold us a very expensive and high quality mattress to always ensure there was something between the slats and mattress. A blanket or similar was suggested. We've been using a quilt which has worked well for the last few years. fyi - one reason for the suggestion is that the mattress was super king size and frankly so are we so lots of weight pressing on to the slats.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Perhaps if you leave it up for the day you can see if the mattress puffs out again(temporary marks?)

There aren't many that aren't these days but is the mattress suitable for a slatted base?
I can recall seeing some that recommended a divan base only.Officially in a clique of idiots0 -
Worth checking FB Marketplace for second hand beds for sale locally?
Usually super-cheap, and all you'll need are the slats from it - if they are similar, and will fit in-between. (Factor in a trip to the dump for the rest...)
Son's new bed suffered a broken slat when he stood on it - they were thin and flimsy in any case. With luck, someone less that 10 miles away was selling a ful set of far superior slats, so I replaced them all. Jobbie jobbed.
(by the time I'd turned up to collect them, he'd had numerous other calls...)0 -

If I was you I would replace those slats , ikea for example sell slats on there own but whether they will fit the base is another story!0 -
I have a metal bed, and following a tip from a cousin, I lay flat cardboard between the mattress and the slats. The cardboard wears surprisingly slowly and hasn't needed to be replaced that many times in the 17 years i've had the bedframe.
I usually keep a few large flattened boxes in the shed for the next time it needs changing.0 -
Base and mattresses need to be matched. If your mattress is for a sprung divan base it may not be an option for a slatted base.0
