And a fan with a humidstat can also really help (especially if the room has no window)

I have tried vinegar in the past and it has not had any effect, I have tried improved ventilating etc but nothing works with the exception of HG Spray. The foam sounds like a better option or even the Cillit bang mould remover - does anyone have any experince of either?
I've used Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover on a bathroom ceiling. It's very effective. After spraying it, a few seconds later the mould could be wiped away.
  • Try white vinegar....

I also use the sponge-it-on method. I can then leave it to dry by itself without fear of Alien-esque drips.

What have you got above the ceiling? An attic? Do you have water ingress that way -  rather than humidity from the bathroom? Or a cold patch from lack of insulation in just that spot?

As a landlord I have to clear mould between tenants on occasion. It may be that they take less care to heat and ventilate than those who own property. This is not the standard Astonish spray, its the extra strength. It works as well as HG for a lot less cash.

The smell is rather similar to chlorine at swimming baths. So no mask is needed.
