Batteries were much better quality in The Olden DaysEctophile said:baser999 said:Battery has done well to last 2.5 years
My Fiat is 14 years old this month. The key fob is still on its original battery.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science

More likely the car has keyless theft installed which kills batteries in a much shorter time as they are working much harder.
Also, don't get the cheap 8 for a £1 ones as they will only last 18 months, get a decent quality one and it will last another 2.5-3 years.0 -
To echo the advice in that video, confirm which battery is required.Probably CR2032, but some remotes use a CR2016, e.g. Toyota.0

Nissan are telling me I have to pay for replacement although I asked them if it would not be covered by warranty.0 -

You don't have to use the remotesultan123 said:I am with Nissan on personal contract hire. Had the car about 2.5 years and I pay monthly (includes yearly servce cost). My car key is saying battery is low.

I've just done this. Two year old Nissan Leaf with keyless start. Got a message on the dash saying that the key battery was low. Followed a youtube video for a similar Nissan fob which said it would be a CR2032, but it turned out to be a CR2025. Fortunately I had two in the house that I had bought by mistake some time ago. It worked fine after changing it.
I had the car serviced about 3 weeks ago and it was my key we gave them. In the old days garages used to replace batteries in remotes at service time - but I suppose everything is now chargeable separately.0
