Refusing an ipa

Can I refuse an ipa before signing and quit my job so i only have benefit income. Is this something that would get me into trouble with the OR?

The O R can't stop you quitting your job. How would that work?

You would of course get a benefits sanction for leaving without good reason

You can refuse an IPA and they can get an IPO

Sounds like cutting your nose off to spite your face, tbh.
  • I am choosing to work despite my disability and currently have LCWRA Status. As it stands I can stay home and do nothing and get 2.5k a month in benefits but I am choosing to work. But if I get an Ipa that takes away my wages why would I choose to go to work?

How well do you know your employer, is it a large or small firm ?

Small firms where you might be on friendly terms with the boss, may, at their discretion, sack you, so you don`t have to quit, but can claim benefits straight away.

A benefits only income will not attract an IPA.

getting sacked is disciplinary.you want redundancy as that isn't disciplinary.or you want to be in a temp or seasonal job.anything where you leave due to no part of your own. or be under a year where the employer can end  your employment for any reason and simply end that. you do not want the term sacked to be ever used or mentioned.
I had a job I hated so I went to a seasonal job which was almost at end of summer season.i then signed on when the seasonal job ended..was asked why did I leave my last job.answer.it was end of season.
got full benefits.but if I walked out or was sacked from the job that I had before I took the seasonal one I would have been on half dole money for up to 13 to 26 weeks.

or take on a lower paid job where you have no excess money for an ipa or phone in sick until the employer got fed up and let you go.
you want to be smart. I would do my best to hurt the creditors whilst  making my life as easy.there was a thread recently called bye bye bankruptcy where the poster went to a low paid job on purpose for year to avoid an ipa.then at end of the year went and got a much higher paid job once bankruptcy had ended

An IPA is not the end of the world,  I personally wouldn't quit your job.

I'm in a council property, low rent, no dependants, good wages 2.5-3k monthly and attained a £50 IPA..
  • I don't want an ipa as it restricts my income for three years v 12 months. I spoke with the lady on Friday and she advised that she was going to recommend an NT and council tax ipa. She was great if I'm honest and worked hard to look for areas to increase my budget so I ended up with a deficit and no 3 yearipa.
