Nationwide switch offer - I need to setup a DD quickly!

Hi,
Im looking to take advantage of Nationwide's £200 switch offer. To be eligible I need to have 2 active DDs setup on my old account (Santander). I setup 2 DDs on my Santander account purely to be eligible. I have one with Vanguard; and another with Hargreaves. However, only the Vanguard is showing as being a Direct Debit in my Santander account! Hargreaves says there is a DD from Santander to them; but Santander says theres no DD setup for Hargreaves! So Im caught between both companies!
The switch is going to start soon, so I need to find a quick way to get an active DD setup on Santander. Is Paypal the way to go? If I add my Santander card to my Paypal account, and add money from Santander to Paypal, will that be a Direct Debit that comes out immediately?
Thanks

No. You need to add the bank account, not the card, to PayPal and then *buy* something from somewhere with PayPal and specify that account in the PayPal checkout. You can't just add money to your PayPal with a bank account. It's also not immediate. Mine took about a week and a half to show up. How soon is your switch? It's hard to get a new DD to show up in less than a week or so.dllive said:If I add my Santander card to my Paypal account, and add money from Santander to Paypal, will that be a Direct Debit that comes out immediately?
I don't know if you can cancel or delay the switch but it might be worth setting up a new burner account complete with new DDs with a view to switching that one at a later date if the first switch doesn't qualify.1 -
Thanks. Ive set the switch to start on 13th nov. (Because Hargreaves take DD on the 7th of each month, and Nationwide recommends to not switch within 3 days of a DD date). But becuase Hargreaves DD doesnt seem to be showing in my Santander account, Im not going to rely on it.boingy said:

So I have a couple of weeks, but Id like the DD to be active asap just so I can forget about it until the switch completes.
That https://www.littledirectdebits.co.uk/ website looks useful. I wonder if I can use the Custom Direct Debit option to specify a DD for next week. Perhaps thats not possible. If it isnt then Ill choose the '1st Day of the month' option.0 -
Ive noticed they have a Direct Debit ASAP option0

Takes about 3 working days if a mandate is setup.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?3 -

Moneybox, Plum, PayPal, or a low value charity DD seem to be the fastest to set up.1 -
For direct debit have a look at onepounddd.com; they give you 3 date options1

Plum. Set-up a weekly depositor @ £1 per week. You can withdraw the money afterwards.1
