Hi a bit confused as I've never done it before. I'm about to buy an expensive foldable phone. I'd like to insure it. I already have home contents insurance. Is it still worth buying mobile insurance so that "i dont need to claim on my home insurance"? I just get negative vibes about claiming on home insurance if phone breaks.. is that a waste of claim? Does it mess up my premiums?

Alternatively, I could choose a mobile phone insurance. But i want to know the fine print. I've heard SWIPE INSURANCE is a good company (https://www.swipeinsurance.co.uk/). Their fees also seem low. But do these insurers pay out? Or do they wriggle out at every opportunity to not replace my phone? If you could advise any good mobile phone insurers that dont rip you off that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ash.

If it's covered by your home insurance then probably not worth paying for another policy.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I would suggest getting Monzo premium if you don't have Monzo already. I just upgraded my phone with EE and their insurance was an extra £15 per month. The guy in the shop told me to take out Monzo premium as it is the same price and covers your phone as well as travel and other benefits.

Do you need a Monzo bank account? I asssume yes? And i guess that is a new credit hit on your credit account right?

Are there any companies that offer 15ish like a Monzo - phone, travel etc etc, but without having to open a bank account?
