My partner needs to update her mobile as the operating system on her very old moto G5 can’t be updated anymore and it’s about to course problems.
She is looking for something simple for around £150 to £180. What would be your best buys?
Thanks for any advice.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I too have an ancient Moto G5. I bought a G82 earlier this year in readiness for the change which I've not yet attempted. It's slightly above your suggested budget. I'd suggest checking out Moto Gnn options at around your target price.1

Xiaomi Redmi 10 5G, 4+128GB, Sim Free Unlocked Smartphone, Dual Sim – Graphite Gray
the wife has the above and been using it a while now with no problems,currently 129 on amazon.1 -
Have a look at REALME phones on game.co.uk1

My son has a "OnePlus Nord 2 5G", mid-range CPU, but seems really smooth and slick (fast)... plus he uses it for gaming all the time.... 128Gb storage, 8Gb RAM, seems to be £170 on Amazon or about £150 refurbished.
Xiaomi Redmi 10 as mentioned above could be interesting... seems to have a few good features (SD slot + Infrared), but lower spec video call / selfie camera and with a much slower CPU and storage, so I suspect would feed a lot slower - whatever you consider - look at the specs side by side on GSMarena... e.g. https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=11060&idPhone2=10960&idPhone3=120741 -
I am very happy with my Oppo 74A 5G at around that price.

If she likes motorola go to the motorola web site and shop. motorola.co.ukIf you subscribe with motorola and give them your email address for marketing spam, they send you a 10% off code within a few hours, then when it comes you buy the 'phone you want cheaper than Argos.I bought the brand new G84 for £225 with the voucher. 5G, loads of storage and the fingerprint reader is on the front. Comes with a 30W charger that I don't use as I charge it slowly to 85%.It came with free replacement insurance (£30) for the first 12 months if I sit on it and break it in half- you have to add it at purchase and they take the price off again.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I got a Motorola G32 to replace my ancient Moto G. They are now £120 from the Motorola website, undoubtedly cheaper elsewhere!
