Vodafone SIM-only to new Vodafone SIM deal?
I am on a good SIM-only deal with Vodafone which expires in a couple of months. I doubt any renewal deals will be as good but there are great SIM-only deals available with Vodafone for new customers.
Is it possible to buy one of these and then port my existing number to them?
I've been able to do that with O2 and EE in the past but am new to Vodafone.

How do these renewal deals look, if you are OK with using a third-party reseller (Currys) and possibly cashback.

I've used them for the last couple of renewals without problem.1 -
Technically it is migrating not porting if you are staying with the same network. If you can register it to the same email account then you can usually swap the plan onto your existing sim.granta said:I am on a good SIM-only deal with Vodafone which expires in a couple of months. Yes I'm happy with that, I got my last one via mobiles.co.uk. I just wasn't sure if you could port the number onto a new deal with the same network.flaneurs_lobster said:How do these renewal deals look, if you are OK with using a third-party reseller (Currys) and possibly cashback.

Great! That's what I would like to do. I just recall years ago one network did not seem to allow it but can't remember the details. I just wonder why the 'loyalty' deals are worse than new customer deal as I always get the latter if I cansavergrant said:

Yep, works just fine, completely seamless, just make sure that you are taking an upgrade deal rather than a new one. They send you a new SIM but just ignore it. Go via TopCashback/Quidco for extra cash.granta said:

I've just been on the phone to Vodafone about something else and enquired whether migration from one Vodafone number to another is possible. I was told NO! Vodafone do not allow migration of numbers between two Vodafone SIMs! So I don't know if the person was misinformed or this has been a recent change?
Anyway, I asked if it was possible to port to another temporarily to another network and then port to the new Vodafone. She said they didn't promote that but it was possible. So I might have to take the long road.0 -
You are not looking to migrate, transfer, cancel or port. You don't need to move anything to a new SIM.
You are simply upgrading your existing contract onto different terms.
Vodafone are being disingenuous with the actuality, they would much rather you dealt with them direct rather than through a third party, for obvious reasons.

Maybe I have misunderstood the process. I thought that if I buy a new deal SIM (say through mobiles.co.uk) and want to keep my existing number (also currently on a Vodafone SIM), then I have to move it to the new SIM with the new deal - I only want one sim with my long-standing number as my end goal.flaneurs_lobster said:You are not looking to migrate, transfer, cancel or port. As long as you take an upgrade deal (which may well be for less than your current deal, despite the name) and specify your existing phone number as part of the application then that's what will happen.granta said:

At least that was my experience with mobiles.co.uk last April.1
