Hi community 👋🏽
I have recently received a letter from DCBL (see below):

(Image removed by Forum Team)

I would like to know what steps I need to take. I.e do I need to email or call them to defend my self?
The alleged parking violation was in Scotland (I am in England - if that would make any difference to the case).

I’m aware that debt collecting companies are often predatory and these pressuring letters that prey on people's mental health and wellbeing is not welcome , especially as we are in a cost of living crisis and I’m sure it’s causing others a lot of stress and anxiety.

Appreciate your help :)

    Do nothing. Ignore it.

Return here in the event you get a court claim.

    Hello and welcome.

That is nothing more than a debt collectors letter.
The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collectors letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.
  • Read the Newbies/FAQ thread.

The NEWBIE sticky, which I assume you have read, tells everyone that debt collector letters give 14 days to respond whilst proper letters before/of claim give 30 days and include financial forms that you do not fill in.  It is a worry that this is the first (seemingly) letter you have received!  Did you receive a PCN, if not, check that your V5C has the correct address - don't assume, look!
  • I did receive a pcn but it got thrown away during cleaning and now I received this letter so came here to see what the steps are as I can’t find the newbies thread everyone is talking about.

Essentially I do not want a CCJ against me so am trying to get some advice from people that have gone through this before on how far I can go without getting a CCJ

I am really puzzled by that statement.
In my post on your thread last Tuesday I gave you a direct link to the fourth post in the NEWBIES thread.

    You have already been advised
No need for people repeating the same advice

If you actually read the newbies thread you will see that you cannot get a CCJ just like that we don't live in a PPC controlled state, and that letter is just a scare tactic from sterile debt collection idiots, but as you do not have a debt it means diddly squat!
What did Hilton say when you complained about this?

Thanks for the info, appreciate it . I didn’t complain to Hilton.

But it is never too late to try Plan A.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
