In a way I'm glad you were wrong, because revisiting the calculation I noticed I hadn't pressed a + sign so one amount ended up part of a decimal instead of hundreds!

So redoing the calculation with your correct rent amount gives £421.97/month - rather healthier!  (Maximum £2199.97, before deductions.)
Still not enough to cover your rent but less dire if you do end up having to claim UC for whatever reason.

I do not know how that would compare to the potential premiums in ir-ESA.

    Many thanks for that,

I will save the information and go back to it with the correct pension info
Also work out it out with the IR ESA info

We have just been awarded PIP for my partner, and am grateful for both on standard, as that will help greatly. But may do a MR when we get the PA4 through and see what that says.

Always appreciate everyone's comments and responses

    Thanks again

  • Just a quick question from the initial post

To claim the SDP he needs to contact IS. You can report the changes for housing benefit but it's unlikely to change the amount you receive.

This is a follow up question .......my partner suffers from severe anxiety/heart problems and other conditions.....so we decided to write a letter and explain that he thought he was eligible for the SDP and could they add it .
Now we had a text  from IS to ask him to phone them up etc.....do you know if they only do it over the phone at all? Or do you think they are just checking his bank details as it would be from the summer he has due the SDP we only found out he was successful with PIP in the Autumn.
I know we won't know till he phones up but just wondering if you had any thoughts
    Thanks

You can claim the SDP by asking IS to send out a form but the quickest way is to ring them. It's a simple process just asking who you live with and if anyone claims either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.
