Freesat from Sky BBC HD

Probably around 15 years ago we got Freest from Sky. With the BBC changes we now need to upgrade as box doesn't do HD but Sky don't recognise our account and won't link our viewing card to a sky+ box which we bought on eBay. What (if any) are our options for continuing to get free to view channels with no aerial. We have broadband and a satellite dish so can use iplayer but is there anything that doesn't require linking computer?

Some TVs have satellite tuners built in as well as the terrestrial Freeview one.  A few even use the freesat EPG. Non freesat ones are best avoided.

Freesat boxes (non recording) will be similar to the free sat from sky offering.

You can buy second hand units e.g. from CeX  https://uk.webuy.com/search/?stext=freesat or new from shops (like Argos https://www.argos.co.uk/browse/technology/freeview-boxes-and-recorders/c:30220/opt/sort:price/ ).

@beany98 do you have a working UHF TV aerial?  Since Digital Switchover some places can now receive Freeview that were in a analogue days difficult or poor (ghosting).  It may be worth exploring that option, too?  The Freeview professional reception prediction tool may help? Pro
  • Thanks Rodders53. We lost our reception at the digital switchover and had to go to satellite at that point.

I don't know if this will help you but I had free sat and when BBC switched to hd there was information to get a free set box to use.

I just filled in my details and they sent me a Freeview box free of charge.

Are you sure it wasn't down to mobile interference when we all went to digital terrestrial? Maybe try https://restoretv.uk/
