Tumble dryer - best one

You have to empty the water container after every time you use a condenser, but it's easy to do.0

We're very happy with our new Bosch condenser dryer.
My best advice is do not touch Indesit with a BARGEPOLE... their after-sales service is terrible. Guarantee - what guarantee?0 -
That's not safe! I'd never leave a dryer on overnight, or when I was out of the house. I've had 2 go on fire (we were in at the time), and I knew someone whose kitchen was gutted after going out and leaving their dryer on.
which dryers were they?   Please tell us before we buy one and see it go up in smoke!!!0 -
One was a Bosch. It was a vented dryer though (it had a cut out button at the back incase of overheating. This time it obviously didn't work.) There were flames coming from the one.
The last one was also a vented dryer (fluff cleaned out after every use too. It was less than 2 years old). We had a burning smell, got it fixed, but it went on fire again. No visible flames that time though. Because we were covered by British Gas Homecare we got the full amount that we'd paid for the dryer back, so we bought a condenser.0 -
I have had a White Knight for years with no trouble. I keep mine in the shed and have a vent out of the side of the shed. Bit of a pain for some people if its not in the kitchen I suppose but I use mine 2 or 3 times a week and dont have a problem with it.

Why when I looked at Tesco & Argos yesterday I didnt spot the 20% sale bit?! Not too mad though as I need longer to pay so have ordered on a buy now pay Nov from Choice.
Ordered a Hoover VHC392T £269 inc £50 off. A massive 9kg, two drainage containers and B rated. Our White Knight has done well, had it for 4 years and its run 3-4 times a day in poor weather which this year has been alot. Just doesnt seem to want to heat up much at the moment?:j0 -
I recently replaced my whirlpool 6th sense dryer when it recently died which was the first I'd ever had (condenser) and was good... but I thought I'd upgrade and buy a bosch cos it does get some hammer.... MISTAKE!!! I bought the bosch with sensor on it which means you can set it going and it senses when the clothes are dry which is excellent... but this does not work as well as the 6th sense one the clothes don't come out bone dry and if you dry pillows or anything thick it says they are dry when they are not. Spoke to Bosch and they don't seem interested.
My advice is that if you want a condenser with a sensor on it (which is very handy). Get one that you can put on for a length of time aswell as just on the sensor drying (6th sense had this facility) and don't be fooled by bosch saying they have a 'timed programme on' as mine says that and it has a 40 min warm one and thats it... which means to get a duvet or pillows dry that you have to put the darn thing on repeatedly for 40mins for a whole afternoon... whichc defeats the object of a dryer really.0 -
Got a White Knight vented, had it 7-8 years and never had a problem. Mind you, it's only got two settings: inferno heat - guaranteed to shrink your clothes and 'cool' which takes several hours just to dry a hanky.
If anyone can recommend a tumble that doesn't shrink clothes, I'd love to know what it is.
If you're placing the tumble dryer next to an external wall, it's not too much work to drill a 4" hole in the wall and fit a permanent external vent for it. You can get vent kits for a few quid and are easy enough to install. Beats the "hose-out-of-the-window" method or having to constantly empty the condenser models.Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
Any members of "Which?" want to paste us a copy of the tumble dryer best buys? There seems to be too many too choose from.0

I bought one of these - got a five year guarantee and it's an A rating, so even though it costs you more in the beginning, you do save money in the long term - there are only 2 tumble dryers that are A rated - the John Lewis one and of the top of my head - it's AEG, so I reckon thats who makes the JL one - very happy with it so far and havinh 3 children it is essential in the winterTitch0
