UC journal and response time

Hello - I wrote in my journal 8/10/2023 to say about the massive difference from migrated tax credits to UC and that I was requesting a mandatory reconsideration and gave them the reasons (massive difference in payments)

I have still not got a response or any indication that they have even read it - I have sent another message on my journal asking them to respond to me but there is nothing.

I asked citizens advice if they could help but they said they are not allowed (see other thread).

does anyone know how long I should wait for a response - i am no good on a phone I get lost.

sorry to put this as separate thread but other thread has got confusing for me.

Unfortunately there are no timescales for this sort of thing, as far as I'm aware.

Do you remember which section/reason you chose for sending the message?  In the past I've seen members recommend a certain one for getting their attention quicker (especially when you don't have a work coach, as is the case for you since you have LCWRA).  But I've a feeling that might have been 'payment issue', which is probably the one you chose anyway.

I've generally found (without having a work coach, not sure if you do) around a week to respond on average but as Spoonie says targeting such as a reported payment issue might be good option to improve response. I would keep things in writing as you're doing for clarity and reference... I don't think calling would help much even if you were good using such.

Thank you for your responses - I did use the payment reason button. It is all just a bit overwhelming and my brain is finding it a big muddle. Thanks to everyone who has helped in something that is an unknown for everyone - it is appreciated.

If you have no work coach assigned, it's generally around the end of your assessment period, as thats when a case manager may be in your claim. You could nip into your local jobcentre and ask them to raise an MR.

Would a message under 'service issues' get flagged up more quickly, or still rely on someone actively looking at the claim to see it?

It would still require someone actively looking or being in the claim and doing once and done approach. It would show on a case managers dashboard, but journals aren't a priorty until the end of the AP.
