I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this, so apologies if it isn't.
Our Sky contract is up at the end of October and they've quoted £102. We have:
Ultrafast Broadband
Talk PAYG
Sky Signature
Ultimate TV add on
Sky HD
Utra HD
Multiscreen (we have 2 Sky Q miniboxes)
I'm thinking long and hard about this and have looked at the possibility of buying a Freesat recorder and having the NowTV entertainment packagage which seems to cover most of the channels I watch, and others my husband watches are on Freesat anyway.
I don't think we need a phone line anymore as we hardly use it.
I can get broadband from one of the providers recommended by Martin.
I reckon (though do correct me if I'm wrong) that this will bring our monthly costs down to under £40 per month, plus the one-off cost of the Freesat recorder.
Does this sound as if it will do the job or have I missed something important? And am I right that a Freesat recorder will plug into the TV exactly as our Sky Q box currently does, and will run from the Sky dish?
And has anyone done this and have any advice?
Many thanks
Lynne

I have just replaced Sky Q with a Freesat 4k recordable box. It was a direct swap of the LNB cables from the old Skybox to the Freesat one. Be aware unless there have been improvements the Freesat box will initially fail to find any Freesat channels even though it has good signal strength according to meter in settings. This is because a software update must be downloaded. Set it up and leave it plugged in overnight . Power off and on next day and hopefully it will find the channels. ( mine took two attempts!).

Ditto the post above. Sky quoted us £120 for renewal and so I cancelled. Bought a Freesat 4K recordable box on Saturday and was up and running within an hour. The software bug on set-up is annoying but easily worked around. When it says there is no signal, just leave it for 30 mins, power off, and then power back on and it will update. It's got all the channels we normally watch, as to be honest 95% of our entertainment these days is from Netflix, Disney+ and Paramount+ which we stream via the TV. If we had a TV aerial we wouldn't need a Freesat box at all so worth conidering too if that's an option for you.0
