Completing C1 Confirmation Form - limit to words?

I know this dates back over 2 years but this is the most useful information I have found about how to fill in the Confirmation form, so huge thanks to Buddy9.
I've just done an English probate form and it was surprisingly straight forward for a simple non-IHT estate, So I thought I would help a Scottish friend who needs to complete the C1 Confirmation form. This is very different. It is designed to be very difficult for a lay person to fill in and the guidance is dense and at times impenetrable. Searching the internet for advice and examples, I generally found sites saying: use a lawyer. Very frustrating.
