Murphybear said:They don’t sound like Clark’s shoes. I’m of the generation that wore Clark’s shoes as a child and they were also well made. They are still pretty good. There is a big shopping outlet village, Clark’s Village, near Glastonbury in Somerset and they have hundreds of decent shoes at reasonable prices (sorry for advertising, I don’t work there but it’s not far from us and is my favourite place to shop
).
I know Clarks Village in Street (next door to Glastonbury) although I haven't been there for a few years.
My wife was born and brought up in Glastonbury. Her father was a mechanic/fitter at Clarks Shoe factory from the 1950s to the 1970s. When manufacturing there ceased and was transferred overseas, parts of the site were used for the shopping village.
We regularly visited Clarks Village on visits to Glastonbury when her parents were still alive.
Apparently manufacturing of Clarks Desert Boots returned to Street in about 2018.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0
