Good afternoon all! My name is Kirsty, 26. originally from London but now living in sunny Somerset (Taunton to be exact)!
Today is a very exciting day for me and my boyfriend (Steve), as we get the keys to our first rented flat together (in too much debt and too low a credit score at the mo for anyone to give us a mortgage - *sigh*).
I am planning to be as old style as I can when we move in - will get my bread machine back from my ex's garage and will be able to make bread every day (even though it is just 2 of us we get through a loaf every 2 days at the moment because of packed lunches etc).
So, my point is, just to say hello really and to get some hints and tips from anyone for us. We are 26 and 32 (me and him respectively) and are always looking for ways to do things traditionally and save money.
REALLY looking forward to chatting with you all!
Lots of love

Hi Kirsty and Steve
Welcome to the first day of the rest of your lives.
Wish I'd known of this site when I got my first home, probably wouldn't have had half as many money worries if I had.
The only advice I can offer is to read the sticky threads at the top of this forum (it all makes more sense after them) and take sometime to wander through old threads at your leisure.
Good Luck to you both in your new home0 -

Welcome Kirsty
Hope you enjoy this site as much as I do!
If you have a look at threads like pin money challenge and store cupboard challenge then they will give you some good ideas.
You do not have to start making laundry gloop and using white vinegar for cleaning just get - but I bet you will once you get addicted!
My bread maker is constantly on the go for rolls, bread and home made pizzas. Not to mention home made jam!"This site is addictive!"

:hello: Hi SomersetPrincess, welcome to old style
As Beth has already said, have a look in the stickies especially the welcome thread (the link is also in my signature) for hundreds of useful tips, recipes, challenges and everything else you could ever need
The best advise I can give you if it's the first time you've lived together is, those little dissagreements you have in the first few months are perfectly normal and they will stop really soon, I promisemoving in together is really exciting but it's also a big change for both of you :j I wish someone had told me that when I moved in with my OH, LOL.
Good luck  any questions you have just ask, we're all here to help each other. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Hi Kirsty
Good to welcome a new name. Best advice I can offer is don't be afraid to ask questions, someone is always on hand to help:D
Hope all goes well with the move, if there is an inventory of contents ro condition go over it with a fine tooth combe & be very particualr about recording yoru findings, & don't forget to save any bubble wrap from packing for fragile Xmas pressies etc;)
Cheers
