Alderbank you  are incorrect. The poster is entitled to a completely new one as it had clearly gone faulty. It was still under the statutory initial 12 month guarantee that the retailer is responsible for.  Would you expect a marked or used second hand iPhone from Apple as a example if your original stopped working? No, you would expect a new one as it was a new one you paid good money out for and expected it to last.

I have had items gone faulty and had no issues with any company on receiving a new replacement.  Without a doubt, Argos should have replaced the item under its guarantee. Although after the first 6 months the onus is on the buyer to prove there is a fault; that wouldn't have been hard for him to do at all. Also as someone involved in the Deaf community myself, the way he has been treated has been disgusting. No regard or respect at all.
