Yes, people in receipt of TCs are being migrated now regardless of other benefits they also receive.pope said:
Sorry to interperat I get ESA contribution based and was getting child tax credit. But have received letter of UC migration is this normal? Or should I have been contacted after 2028poppy12345 said:Also managed migration only applies to those claiming Income Related ESA. Those that are claiming either New style ESA or the old contributions based will not be migrated across.

Yes because it was in his speech last Friday. This doesn't mean it will go ahead. Please also take note of the sticky at the top of the forum. This forum is for help with benefits entitlement, not about benefits policy.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/365935/its-about-helping-people-get-their-entitlement-not-about-benefits-policy#latesttrev1865 said:Sorry but are you sure? Managed Migration of ESA(IR) is due to start in September 2024…

I'll believe it when anything actually happens. Their posturing before an election is not a solid basis for assuming anything will come to pass.8dayweek said:Managed Migration of ESA(IR) is due to start in September 2024…

Edit: didn't intend that to be political necessarily, just the timing of all of this is undoubtedly purely because of the upcoming election. I'm not commenting on likelihood of them winning or losing.3 -
If that’s what you want to believe then carry on. I haven’t seen anything official being announced yet.8dayweek said:Managed Migration of ESA(IR) is due to start in September 2024…

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/cost-of-living/dwp-move-thousands-esa-claimants-29058439Universal Credit boss Neil Couling said the new plans mean that everyone claiming ESA, or ESA with Housing Benefit, will now be told to transfer to Universal Credit by the end of December 2025. This would mean everyone on legacy benefits had been moved across by that point.
So unless any new Government changes the time-frame it does look like it will happen much sooner than expected.

Further reading on ESA managed migration.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/la-welfare-direct-bulletins-2024/la-welfare-direct-5202439. Our delivery approach and timelines will be informed by detailed planning and engagement with stakeholders, but our current planning assumption is that we would begin notifying this group (ESA) in September 2024, with the aim of notifying everyone to make the move by December 2025.
https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/dwp-to-save-£5-billion-as-claimants-fail-to-migrate-to-ucThe DWP is expecting to save £5 billion due to the high number of claimants who will fail to complete the forced migration from legacy benefits to universal credit. Claimants over sixty are proving especially lucrative for the DWP, with almost one third disappearing during the migration process. Citizens Advice has called for the DWP to investigate the high number of abandoned claims and improve the support offered to people forced to migrate.
Is does look like it will start before any election and will be up to the new Government to decide if or not to keep this new policy. No doubt a big factor will be having to change the time-frame yet again, and the loss of the projected £5 billion savings.
