Switching from Chase

I read on here Chase is good to create an account to switch for switch bonuses as you can create multiple accounts with them. But I wanted to check that when you switch it just closes that specific account with Chase and not the original main account?

Opted to switch from Chase to First Direct and are having nothing but trouble. Chase saying its FD's fault then vice versa so in the end called FD and they have said Chase have notified them that my account with Chase is not switch compatible?? My money was in a savings account which I transferred over into an everyday spending account!!Does not seem right to me so have emailed the Ombudsman, any answers out there?0

I switched from Chase to Nationwide with no problems
it was my main Chase account I switched
one thing to note is that you have to close all accounts with Chase other than the current account in order for the switch to go through - that includes your savings account and in particular your roundup account if you have one1 -
Has anyone tried switching their Chase savings account to another Bank? Or, alternatively, is it possible to convert a Chase savings account to a current account? I currently have all my direct debits, standing orders from and payments in to my savings account.0
