Saudia Air 24 hour delay

Hi everyone,
My issue is a straightforward one, following a 24 hour delay at Manchester 2023 I eventually flew out 24 hours later .
I claimed the statutory £520 delay compensation and filled out all the necessary forms and sent them off early April 2023.
Since then I have sent several emails asking when they are paying me but still nothing ..

I have tried their website chatbots but it was a complete waste of time..
2 friends who were on the same flight have had a similar experience so now I am considering contacting a flight delay compensation claims company.. I know they will take a hefty cut but I feel that unless I do something proactive I will receive nothing.

Has anyone else been down this route ? do you think I should be patient a bit longer?

First things first, is compensation definitely due, i.e. what was the reason for the delay?
  • Hi
The delay was due to an engine failure whilst taxiing out of manchester airport just preparing for take off and something went BANG!!!.

Bet you were relieved that it went ‘bang’ when you were on the ground rather than in the air.

I just put a complaint in to Saudia about a missed connection and a resulting 19 hour delay. Not received any response as yet so this doesn't sound promising.
  • I've engaged the services of a delay compensation company..they take 29% of any compensation but at least I may get something

Probably the easiest way. Airlines from countries outside the EU may be less willing to fulfil their legal obligations, knowing that it is harder to chase. If they have no registered office in the UK/ EU enforcing any judgement will be tricky without the help of companies familiar with the way the airline operates. Also the airline may be more likely to comply when they see a compo company is involved.

10 days out I've received nothing but a confirmation of receiving my complaint. By contrast Wizz Air (of all people) had paid my compensation pretty much within 48 hours of me claiming it.
  • I received a reply from Saudia basically saying it was circumstances outside their control but failing to specify what those were. When I replied asking them to be specific they just repeated the same cut and paste of circumstances outside out control - so I've also forwarded the details onto a compo company. Don't expect to get anything but at least it gives me a roll of the dice.
