Interesting reading as I'm going through the same process at the moment. Currently paying £20 per month for 200mbps VM broadband. My contract expires in November and the price would go up to £60 per month so I called them today to cancel. They offered me another discount that would bring it down to £40 per month but I refused.
I called them a few times a few days apart and the price gradually drifted down magically.  Give it a few days and phone again.

They called me this afternoon. Latest offer is £30 per month for 125mbps. I still refused.

New customers can get broadband only at 132mb/s for £26.50.
For TV as well I think you'll be lucky to get much lower than £30. They know that most people will reach a point where they look at having a BT line installed and then give up haggling.

God help us if the Supermarkets ever start wanting to negotiate with every shop!
I do not know why you people put up with this begging.

supermarkets negotiate with their suppliers, I've known suppliers relieved when they lost a supermarket contract as it saved them money.
