Upgrade and network swap

Options

Hi all, I’m really struggling with possible upgrade /  provider change / sim issue and would appreciate any ideas or help.

I’m retired and a bit tech cautious. My rural area is very patchy for signals and I rely on my phone for everything including broadband via my phones hotspot (unlimited data tariff with 3) .. I mostly just get one bar of 3G

So my iPhone 7 Plus is now 8 years old and I need to upgrade - I am focusing on an iPhone 15 pro max. In addition I am going to be moving house in the next few months to another rural area which is patchy on all networks except O2 / Tesco .. but the coverage in that area is only 3G/ 4G not 5 yet.

I’m unsure about the following if anyone can advise / suggest.

A. Should I go to O2 first then move my existing mobile number over 2nd ?

B. Would transfer old to new phone of data / apps be affected and would the transfer have a problem with old/new having different mobile numbers at that point ?

C. How would everything be affected by Esim as opposed to normal sim ?

D. Is O2 unlimited data truly unlimited? My current monthly use with 3 averages about 170gb

Thanks.

My suggestion is keep your existing phone until you move, PAC to Giffgaff/ Tesco unlimited to try O2 network.
If everything is fine, get iphone15 pro max with unlimited data contract. iphone 15 pro max is expensive, getting it on contract may be a better deal.
(mobilephonedirect 24 months O2 unlimited iphone 15 pro max, total cost £1522; standalone iphone 15 pro max £1200, tesco unlimited £30 p.m.)

There shouldn't be any problem for tranferring from existing iphone to another iphone

    Esim should not affect anything.

O2 unlimited with fair usage limit 650GB per month.
  • For a very rural area you might benefit from installing 2 esims on your iPhone so it can switch between them

    Do iphone accept 2 esims?
I think it is 1 esims + 1 physical sim.
