I've not had a problem but it's been at least 4 years since the last car was purchased. That was with Volvo. One before that was from a VW dealer, prior to that from Lexus where I needed to use 2 different cards to get the proper 0% deals (balance transfer rather than purchase deals).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @LibbyEJ13 conscious you've not been back since you posted this but do you genuinely have a 0% purchase card with a credit limit big enough to fund this (i.e. more than the £12k you're looking for as they won't approve a transaction that takes you to the limit) ?
It's a big risk to find 'the' car, do the negotiation and then find that the card company decline the transaction.
Whilst it may be an MSE way to do things it'll be costing you more if you end up with the 'wrong' car

To my considerable surprise, when I did this - using a 0% Barclaycard - I was able to pay right to my limit without any problems or pre-notification.0
