Simply typing your name is acceptable as an electronic signature. No need to photograph your wet signature and embed as an image. Unless there is evidence to the contrary, an electronic signature validly authenticates a document.

If the authenticity of a document signed using an electronic signature were to be challenged, an English court would accept the document bearing the electronic signature as prima facie evidence that the document was authentic and, unless the opponent adduced some evidence to the contrary, that would be sufficient to deal with the challenge.

    PD5A(1):

Signature of documents by mechanical means

1 Where, under rule 5.3, a replica signature is printed electronically or by other mechanical means on any document, the name of the person whose signature is printed must also be printed so that the person may be identified.

    PD5.3:

Signature of documents by mechanical means

5.3 Where any of these Rules or any practice direction requires a document to be signed, that requirement shall be satisfied if the signature is printed by computer or other mechanical means.

Why on earth do people try to overcomplicate everything?

Thanks for the clarity. I thought I was putting things right :(

So ... today in the post two items arrived from QDR.

1/ Letter to me which starts "upon review of the matter and further to the Claimant's N244 Application, the Claimant wishes to seek your consent to amend the Claim Form and Particulars of Claim".
It contains a Consent Order ... which I shall anonymise and post here ... but which seeks amendments, sets out a new dates sequence, and seeks an adjournment.

2/ A pack, containing a newly dated N244 - Application Notice, and a 'super amended' Claim Form headed in red "Amended Pursuant to CPR 17.1(2)(b) and CPR 16". All wording focused on registered keeper and much more detailed and honed in.

I await your early opinion - definitely changing the goalposts - wasn't aware this could happen?

    "the Claimant's N244 Application"

...errr... what application?  Email and ask that question and ask to see this application and their Witness Statement bundle that presumably accompanied the N244 or was sent later.

Say you've no idea what application they mean and they must share it with you and stop trying to railroad and change the case behind your back.

And when you get the application details post it here (REDACTED OF ALL NAMES AND DATA) and please DON'T rush to do whatever the first person to reply (often a poster with just a few posts and not a regular) might suggest.

Wait till the regulars have chewed it over.

Is your hearing in a fortnight?

No it's end of the month.

Thank you and understood ... what I did has had no material advantage.

    Redacted docs posted.
