    Eon themselves say
"This offer is available exclusively to existing E.ON Next customers on low incomes (i.e. household income of less than £19,000 a year)
    and
customers who have certain medical dependency needs and a household income of less than £31,000 a year."

If I were an Eon customer in a household with an income below £19,000 I'd be contacting them to tell them.  And if they're putting wrong information on their own website, they need to be correcting it.

Seems that only those on the warm discount qualify so if they took you off that, you lose out twice? I've emailed them as I would qualify due to income but they just didn't really reply. I think Martin's info needs changing as it seems to be only a narrow amount of people who qualify and it isn't really an affordability scheme?
Similar to me I made an initial enquiry and in fairness they replied straight away and said

"Our Credit Specialists will start to contact some customers who could be eligible via text, email and phone, and they’ll work directly with them to check they are eligible for our support."

So I asked them how they knew what my income was and could she make sure my details were passed to their credit specialists. They then reverted to my usual expectations of them and didn't reply.
  • I think Mr Lewis needs to be informed of this and get Eon to clarify who is eligible. If someone from the MSE team is aware of this please pass this onto him.

    Thx

Good to see there is an update pending. Despite meeting all the criteria listed in Martin's news article, I too was told it was only for people with medical issues. I asked him to double-check as normally MSE is accurate. He went off and spoke to someone, and confirmed that he was right, so no joy.

Meant to add, he did read out to me the appropriate section of the T&Cs. I asked him if there was a copy of the T&Cs I could access online and he said 'No, we don't publish it because people would twist their circumstances to benefit from it!.'

So maybe the 'income under £19,000' was a criterion they set for the previous WHD Broader Group?
"Eligible for Warm Home Discount Core groups 1 & 2, Broad group Scotland, or customers previously eligible for Broad group in England & Wales."

Either way they urgently need to clarify what they've said in their blog about it.
