Hello. I got an email about this which looked like a scam as they did not put my name in the space, account number in the space etc (phoned up verified Eon number to check that it was a correct email) and was told about the offer.

Qualifying as had warm home discount he went on to say about it. I was on Next loyalty fixed V4. I said I could not find information about the 25% off Next Flex unit prices online and so I phoned him.

I will be going from Electricity 30.41 kWh, 37.63 per day to 21.22 kWh, 30.74 per day to  Gas 7.27 kWh, 23.08 per day to 5.16 kWh, 19.44 per day from now until 31 March (fixed prices VAT included).

He said there was exit fees which I queried as I thought they only applied if I changed supplier and he said he would get them waived (£25 per fuel) - there are no exit fees with the 25% off Next Flex he said.

I said yes to going onto the 25% off Next Flex and am now really just asking if I have made a good choice and if anyone can see anything I have got wrong. I made sure that I only worked on kWh prices not DD. I am learning but would like just to know if I am doing ok as this seems a vast difference in prices.

Thank you

There an MSE news article on the EOn schemes - seems a pretty good offer.

I had to get a new Eon tariff as mine was going to run out towards the end of October so I signed up for the Next Pledge Tracker 12m V2 on Sunday, on the Monday (yesterday) Eon sent me an email about their Winter Support scheme, so I rang them up and they just changed me straight over to what they're calling the Next Winter Support Fixed 25 tariff, think this is the same, says 25% off until end of March. Anyway a couple of things seem a bit different to what it says in the MSE article, the lady said I must pay by direct debit, and I've never been on Eon's SVT.

I m not with Eon so this excellent deal does not apply to me . Hopefully other suppliers incl Octopus may go for a similar deal.

Some you win and some you lose.

Octopus have many other smart metered cheap beta tariffs so it's 50/50.imo.if they try and match this deal.

You can contact Greg Jackson via twitter and get a response from his team. Might be worth a shot.
  • Got Martin's email last night and as an Eon Next customer contacted them this morning. According to Martin's email I qualify for the 25% discount as I have been a customer for over 2 years, am on their 'variable tariff', and my income is below £19000 but I do not have medical dependencies. However, according to Eon Next , I DO NOT QUALIFY, as my account has not been flagged up as one of those who qualify.

Surely there is an error here that's needs investigating, as either the information in Martin's email is incorrect, or Eon Next do not have there 'qualifying criteria/information' correct.

I also suggested to Eon Next that the start date for this discount should be the same for everyone who qualifies to make it 'fair for everyone'.

I get the warm home discount, and I am also on the priority register..
I did recently switch to the 3% discount tracker that Martin Lewis had recommended, so when I clicked on the link in the email from Eon-next, and logged in, it said I could not switch to any other tariff..
Called them this morning, and made the switch to this 25% discount tariff, and had no exit fees added.
As my daughter is on UC, according to this post from MSE, she should be eligible... but apparently MSE are wrong... currently, only customers who receive the warm home discount are eligible... but he did say it could change in the coming days/weeks..

Hello. When I spoke to eon, as my previous post, the man did say it was because of having received Warm Home discount last winter - he did not ask if my circumstances had changed but they can check re benefits entitlement as they do for giving warm home discount (and epc of home). Other than that I have no idea how they decide sorry. Edited to also add am on priority register too.

Seems that only those on the warm discount qualify so if they took you off that, you lose out twice? I've emailed them as I would qualify due to income but they just didn't really reply. I think Martin's info needs changing as it seems to be only a narrow amount of people who qualify and it isn't really an affordability scheme?

It did say in the email from Eon that I was being offered the reduced price, because I had Warm Home Discount in the past, so that does seem to be one of the main criteria they're using, as they never asked me about my current situation.
