Happy xmas & thankyou old style board

Just a quick post before xmas day...I just wanted to say thanks you to everyone on this forum, especially this board in particular.

Over the last year i have picked up so many tips on cooking, cleaning and living life to the full again (though i still have a long way to go).

I bake my own bread, make healthy home cooked meals and packed lunches. I clean with out chemicals, grow my own veg (though i've been growing veg for a while now) and live a more simple, happier life..and so do my family.

When i have a problem my first port of call is to ask you all and i have never, never not received a helpful reply. Some of my questions are really daft ones and i never worry about asking you all.

I have realised that i am really lucky with life thanks to this website and i no longer have debts (other than morgage and a 0% central heating loan-thanks again to this website) and we manage on less money than ever now.

Anyway, i just wanted to say 'thankyou' to you all. I consider you all the 'best friends' i've ever had!

    I second that.

I have learnt a lot and next year will be putting a lot more in practice. MSE especially OS is part of my day now and I realised that when it went down for a couple of days - major withdrawel symptons!

So Thank You and Merry Christman every one.
  • Hiya!!

The OS board is my daily medicine and keeps me going even when I feel like sh$t! Everyone on here are great and if I feel low or am in pain I can talk about it and am listened not judged.

Regarding OS though, I have learnt so much in the 2.5yrs I have been here. We live very well on very little and we are food snobs too:D Its amazing to think that 3 yrs ago or less I was spending £120 sometimes more in M&S & Waitrose weekly on food that wouldnt be eaten and thrown as we ordered take aways on top:eek:     ...we also used to spend a fortune weekly on work lunches and snacks. We have changed everything we can, stopped direct debits we no longer need etc etc and have save probably £1000 a month maybe more. We were on a much higher income though.

Just wanted to say "THANKS" to everyone who has been there and listened this year. I luv ya all lots.

    Thanks again.

I agree with all of the above.

I've been mainly lurking since I joined in February but have been picking up tips and ideas putting them slowly into practice.

Over the next year I hope to put a lot more of them to use and do a lot more home cooking and baking etc. It's better for me and the kids, so thanks all.

Hi I would like to add my best wishes too to everyone on this site, joined earlier this year just to get help with my bank charges, but discovered a bunch of lovely peeps all willing to share their tips for easy and frugal living. I've learned such a lot on here, Thank you everyone, and Happy Holidays.:A

  • I too have learnt some valuble things from this site .You are never too old to learn anything .A lot of the things I had been doing for years, and didn't realise that other folk didn't, i.e. the uses of white vinegar ect.But I have leant lots of new recipes from the other on here, and tried them out with great sucess.:j
The most important thing I have found on this site is the friendliness and community spirit that had once seemed to have been lost.
On here everyone helps out their 'friends', and no question is a daft one .As one of the ...errrm older ladies on here I love to here from the young Mum's and their questions .
There have been lots of babies born this year, and the Mums proudly display their little ones .:D
We have laughed at some of the things that have happened on here, and cheered at their triumphs, and sympathised with those who have lost loved ones
You are all the sort of folk I would like to have round to my house for tea, or even a drop of something stronger;) .
I can't begin to thank you all idividually for all the support you have sent to me over the last 6 months since my breast cancer diagnosis, and how much it helps to know that somewhere out in the 'ether' there are lots of kind caring people who really do care about their fellow people.
Thank you one and all and may you all have a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year
    God Bless you all

I can't imagine life without the OS board! It would would take forever to list all the changes I have made to my life as a result of it. And whenever I am trying out a new recipe this is the first place I check!

So a big, big thank-you to everyone who contributes to this board and makes it the unique place that it is! :T

    :xmastree: Happy Christmas everyone

I'm a bit new to this site but already have learned so much and feel more inspired now to save more, spend less and, having seen a thread on the Christmas forum about gift baskets - well the six or seven I've got kicking around will now have a good use and save me money in the process, the meal tips on here are a godsend for someone like me who's the worlds worst in the kitchen.
The whole site is brilliant and I'm so glad I came.:j

Happy Christmas to you all and a super saver 2008 !!:T
