  • I bought a locked to Tmobile sony ericcson W300i a few months ago put my virgin sim in and it works. The only downside is you have to put up with all the Tmobile stuff on the phone.I asked in the Tmobile shop first and after he gave up trying to convert me to the t mobile network he admitted that VIRGIN sims DO work in T mobile locked phones

my t-mobile SE k700i and SE k810i both work with virgin sims.

the only annoying thing is the t-mobile branding, which is easily solved by debranding the phone

Yes, a Virgin SIM will work in the T-Mobile phone but a T-Mobile SIM won't work in a Virgin phone unless unlocked.

I just wonder if it is worth pointing the deal out to Virgin and asking them if they will match it.

no it wasnt thru virgin, virgin themselves don't have the model i want at all, it's from phones4u.
I got the phone i wanted, it was a toss up between the w580i and s500i, i went for the first one and i am very very pleased with it, the 2mp camera is better quality than a 3mp samsung equivalent. They only had this phone locked to o2, but the bloke managed to find me an unlocked one for the same price. He said not all o2 phones are locked to o2 quite a few will work on any network which is worth knowing- i asked to try my virgin sim and it worked fine, saving me around £40 than if i had actually bought it locked to virgin!
