My gas consumption seems crazy. Am I reading it wrong?

How old is your property and where in the country are you located?Stormbornsalih said:I know, its crazy usage. I like it warm but you would think i like in Antarctica. The boiler is 6 years old.
Im having it serviced in 2 weeks. i think the next plan is to get a thermal camera and see where the cold spots are.
As a comparison to you we are in the midlands in a 3 bed detached (2019) house and our gas use is usually around 5500kWh per year. We don't like to be cold so are not shy with the heating.0 -
I think its 1950's, it is detached and i think the insulation in the extension maybe a poor. The boiler is 6 years old.0

Worth keeping an eye on the meter to understand where its going.0

Call me crazy but my hunch is upwards.0

Its set to 21.5 but i have to blast it at 24c to warm it up at times as i think it loses heat. Its not a massive house. Its a bungalow.0

As long as you can afford then ok but you could cut that usage by 60%.0

It doesn’t work like that. A home will only reach a set temperature when the heat input equals the heat output. Your home will not get up to 21.5C any faster by turning the thermostat up to 24C. Your problem might be one or a combination of four things: 1. poor insulation in the roof; walls; floor and windows, 2 drafts around doors; windows and chimneys, 3, inadequately sized or partially blocked radiators or, 4, a boiler that is too small.Stormbornsalih said:It’s set to 21.5 but i have to blast it at 24c to warm it up at times as i think it loses heat. Personally, I would address the cheapest fixes first; more insulation in the roof space followed by a chemical clean/flush of your heating system.0
