Retired 14 months ago, aged 59, have found plenty to do, Gigs, Member of County Cricket Club, Volunteering with local Cricket Club (Accounts & Statistics Archiving), looking forward to more of the same in 2026.
Have a great festive period and also a brilliant 2026 everybody.2 -
We retired in 2020. I bought a motorhome and that has been a real success - love to do long trips into Europe. So far we have done France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia. Planning a Scandinavian trip in the summer.
We still like to do long haul stuff to. Did Patagonia in January and currently in the middle of a 4 month trip of Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia and Mexico.
When at home (we managed 6 months away in 2025) I play Trombone in a local orchestra and my wife does church tower bell ringing.
We attend a local church and get involved in activities there, the garden always needs work and the house DIY.
I have a sports car that I like to take on track and that requires maintenance so I do some basic spannering.
We also enjoy live music, comedy, theatre. Living not to far from London is great for these activities.
I do a weekly walk with some ex colleagues when I am at home which is another enjoyable activity to have on a regular basis.
So we keep very busy. Our first Grandchild arrives in February so that will be a other thing to fit into our schedules.
We've enjoyed travel and hobbies all our working lives so to have more time to pursue these in retirement is fabulous.5
