Porsche 911 Carrera S as a motorway cruiser

Neighbour has just had the running in service (a few hundred miles?) on a GT3 992.
Pretty sure he said it's then serviced every two years?
Good for the man maths!
Also no problems on our rubbish pot holed roads apparently.
Dunno about the motorway mpg though.
Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0 -
Hi all, I purchased a 2012 911 Carrera S PDK coupe with 66k miles for £41,500 (cheapest in the country) over the weekend from a private seller. It does have a service missing and the rear tires need replacing but other than that it seems to drive okay, no knocks or bangs.
First thing I'll do is get it to my local mechanic (not a specialist) and a basic service done and get some mid-range tires like the Accelera Phi 2 from Black Circles for £113 each including fitting. The front tires are Kumhos with about 3-4mm tread so got some life left in them. Overall quite happy with my purchase2 -
Good luck!

You can get more than 4 of these for that money:raptor2004 said:Hi all, I purchased a 2012 911 Carrera S PDK coupe with 66k miles for £41,500 (cheapest in the country) over the weekend from a private seller.raptor2004 said:originally wanted a cheap sub-£10k motorway cruiser with good MPG.
This is a high powered car, you really want to be putting some good, quality tyres on so you don't end up dead in a ditch.raptor2004 said:the rear tires need replacing

I am one of the strongest advocates of cheap tyres in this forum board but even I would pull back from cheap tyres on a car like this.
In fact, the idea scares me.
Sounds pretty good to me for a car like this.raptor2004 said:On my way home I filled up but only getting 25 mpg doing 60 mph?! Is this normal?
Please be aware that the car you have is not a cheap car to purchase or to run.
It won't be cheap for petrol, tyres, insurance or anything else.
You have an upward of £100k car. It will have running costs to match.0 -
My 1998 911 does 32mpg on a motorway run so newer ones are likely to be better but probably not much over 40mpg.Goudy said:The 911 version between these dates is the 991.
Carrera has a 3.4 flat six and the Carrera S has a 3.8 flat six.
Oh and I would take those MPG results with a large pinch of salt.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1 -
So you've bought a £40k+ 400bhp car of unknown provenance without an inspection and you're going to stick it into your local mechanic and stick some mid-range tyres on it as winter approaches. And then you're surprised by the MPG despite comments made to you.raptor2004 said:Hi all, I purchased a 2012 911 Carrera S PDK coupe with 66k miles for £41,500 (cheapest in the country) over the weekend from a private seller. Honestly if the car doesn't kill you with the tyre choice it's probably going to kill your wallet.
On a serious note though @raptor2004 send us a pic - love to see the spec of what you've got1 -

Get more than four? I have looked every where and I can't find a 2012 Carrera S PDK coupe for under £41,500.Grumpy_chap said:
