Use the chat box in the App. Type in Close Account and it should take you through a series of questions where you tell it which account to close and what to do with any balance in it. It took a few hours on Tuesday for the account to be closed after I reqUested it. And I was then able to open a new Edge Saver the next day.

Having received the 'your bonus rate expires on 15 October' letter today from Santander, I wonder if it's worth renewing now. Also, if anyone has tried the renewal route over a weekend (or a bank holiday!)...

You can renew at anytime. You have to close your existing one first. When it disappears from online banking (normalky 2-3 days) you can apply for a new one.

I closed my second Edge saver today. I'll be opening my third tomorrow (with any luck)

We have 4 Edge Savers between us and have never had a problem renewing to the current higher rate once your 12 month rate expires.

The old one is still open, possibly optimistic due to the bank holiday weekend. My 123 Lite hasn't been downgraded yet either

My 123 Lite is still a 123 Lite too. I'm presuming they'll downgrade it on it's statement date

I thought that wasn’t happening until next month 

It started 21st of August.
