Enter Letters on dial pad

I'm trying to use an automated phone system that requires me to enter a tracking number, This starts with a letter and I can't work out how to enter it on my phones dial pad.
I'm using an Android phone running android 11 and using the Google phone app.
Thanks.

Does the system not allow you to speak the reference instead?

Or can you leave the letters off?

Sounds very odd. Who is the company?
  • I tried speaking but that didn't work.
It's Evri and the only way you can continue is by entering a tracking number

This suggests Evri tracking numbers are 16 digits and it's the barcode number. Barcode numbers don't have letters. Are you inputting the correct information?
  • yes but that didn't work either. Others must have gotten through to customer services so there must be a way to do it

See above. Are you actually using the correct number?

On a phones keypad there are 3 letters under each number.
Have you tried simply entering the number that corresponds to the required letter?
Can you copy/paste the tracking reference in? (My Android number pad lets me paste in - pasted in letters show/come up as the corresponding number).

I think the OP is missing something here, these all sound highly convoluted solutions and hardly a simple procedure that's easy to do.
If I pressed 2 for A, how does their system know that's an A or a 2? And therein is the issue.

I've just called their number (0330 808 5456). The office is shut now but it still lets you track it through their automated system, it asks for either a 16 digit or a 8 digit number. No mention of letters. This marries with the link I already posted.

I am convinced the OP has gone wrong somewhere here. He is either ringing the wrong place or is using the wrong tracking number.
  • Install the EVRI app, but this (as others have said) requires a 16 digit (numeric) tracking number or an 8 digit (numeric) receipt number.
