Currys sell what seems to be the intel version @ £599That yoga I have that tries to burn me is a Ryzen, I prefer Intel. The i5-1230U is faster, more cores and less power.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'm using an oldish Swift 3 and have been very impressed with it.0 -

Thanks everyone for your comments.
I have persuaded my wife that a 15 inch laptop is a better choice for her. We visited a few shops today so she could get a look and feel and she is now happy to switch to the larger screen 15 inch laptop.
We have decided that we want 16gb memory rather than 4gb or 8gb for Windows11. An SSD is essential but capacity is not too important. Anything 250gb and above would be more than enough.
She wants a black finish rather than silver, preferably with a black keyboard but grey is acceptable. She does not like the look or reflectivity of the silver laptops.
John Lewis has the below Lenovo Ideapad 3i on display which would at first glance be ideal for her.
Can we do better at that price? Is it worth spending more for something better?. We are happy to spend more ( a maximum of £1,000 but preferably a lot less) but, with her requirements being very basic, that should not be necessary.
Thanks
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0
