CIFAS marker on my file

I've just found out that while applying to rent a flat a referencing company named Homelet claimed they were unable to "validate" my referencing documentation and have now put a fraud CIFAS marker on me. This has resulted in my bank account being closed down. I am disabled and very vulnerable with mental health problems and under the care of the Mental Health Team and Social Services. I cannot cope with the stress. I am absolutely terrified. With this marker on my file I will not be able to rent a flat after I have to leave my current place next year. I will not be able to get a bank account. I can't cope and I think it's best to take my own life.

The CIFAS marker is a temporary setback, not a catastrophe. You have time to sort it, but in the meantime your mental health is of greater importance, please get help - your GP and the Samaritans are two places to consider contacting first if family/friends are not an option.0

How nice of you to make fun of the fact that I am suicidal.

Speaking to them is not gonna enable me to cope without a bank account or ability to rent a home in future.

One of my illnesses includes symptoms of extreme anxiety leading into psychosis. I won't be able to stop obsessing over the CIFAS thing and by tomorrow my bank accounts will be frozen and how will I access money for food and my rent? Social Services can't help with that. All they do is send Carers to make sure I take my medication, bathe and they cook my food. They can't sort out these sorts of problems. I had actually been starting to get a bit healthier and a bit stronger but this has totally set me back.

As others have said, focus on stabilising your mental health first, the CIFAS marker can be dealt with/managed, that should be your first priority.
If the CIFAS marker was put in place legitimately then you are stuck with it, but there are also ways around them to an extent because not all banks search them, particularly some fintech companies so that allows you to open another bank account and it is very rare for landlords/agents to search CIFAS so it is unlikely to present a huge issue with renting, it would also not be an issuer if you were to be a lodger.
If the CIFAS marker was not legitimately placed then it can be removed, usually in a few weeks.
What is the category of the marker and when you spoke to them what is the detail? What was the document and why could they not validate it, is it a valid/real document? Have you appealed the marker yet?

GP, Samaritans, Health Worker, Social Worker, Friend, Family, Neighbour, anyone.
It's not as bad as you think.
