How do these firms get away with accusations not true

I appealed a parking fine as I had paid for my ticket.  I did not get a rejection of appeal letter back, I have proof they received the letter. What I got was a letter from Debt Recovery Plus threatening me that if I did not pay they would take me to court. Where do I stand here. would really appreciate some guidance. Thank you

    Hello and welcome.

The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collector's letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.

The parking industry is currently unregulated so there is nothing to stop them saying anything they like.

    Which PPC issued the invoice?

If you have received a parking charge notice from an unregulated parking company then you have not received a fine.

Debt collectors are powerless and cannot take you to court. I doubt they will have said they can, but might have said they will recommend that the PPC commences legal proceedings.

Plan A is always a complaint from the registered keeper to the landowner and the keeper's MP, and it is never too late to do so. Where did the alleged event occur? It might have cropped up here before.

If you get a court claim, come back to this thread. Ignore debt collectors.

Have you read the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES that everyone is asked to read before starting a new thread? That is your starting point.

We all wonder the same .... your header

But look, you must take no notice of DRP, they are simply RIFF-RAFF who live in the clouds and they cannot take you to court, it's not their debt,  IGNORE THE CIRCUS CLOWNS they are 100% POWERLESS .....

Who is the parking company and what happened

Right now, government is asking for evidence for these low life so if you can, scan the letter redacting persomal info and upload it here .....  we have seen 100's of DRP letters all full of rubbish and maybe yours will give different clues

In the meantime you just IGNORE these idiots
  • KeithP Thank you for informing me above. Sorry about that.

Fruitcake, thank you for your response, I am not sure if I can answer you directly. The company that sent the Parking Charge details of the fine was Gemini Parking Solutions, I was in Glasgow at the time of the accusation. The Debt Recovery Plus has said if I fail to pay my financial loss will increase significantly and the case will go to court. I am concerned that it affects my financial rating too.

    In appreciation....

As I said, debt collectors are powerless, cannot take you to court, and can safely be ignored.

You are a very long way from court, and since the alleged event occurred in Scotland, I believe the claim would have to be issued in a Scottish court which simply isn't going to happen where a single PCN is involved.

Forget that' financial rating' worry. There can be no effect unless you have been to Court and lost and not paid up in time. Hence why you can ignore debt collector letters, even though they use lots of luvverly red ink 'n threats 'n stuff

But you can ignore it because it happened in Scotland.  Nothing will happen
