Just back from benidorm booked a package holiday with Easyjet.

Upon arriving at the hotel was kept waiting as rooms weren't ready for 6 hours, when we got into the room my young son naturally went to see the view out the window and upon doing so cut his hand on  the aircon unit,  it mounted below the window and the fins on the unit were broken leaving a large fan inside the unit exposed which his finger slipped into. Could have been a lot worse!!
Complained to easyjet and hotel reception immediately which took 2 days to fix.
On top of that the ceiling fan was loose  again took 2 days to fix.
And we all suffered bed bug bites, requested a change of sheet but discovered the lower mattress protector was absolutely stinking so took this off ourselves.
Then returning transfer was 30 mins late but we didn't miss the flight.

Can we request a partial refund for these problems ?

What time did you arrive at the hotel? What is the check in time for the hotel? If you arrived 6 hours before checkin time (eg 9am for a hotel that starts check in at 3pm) then this isnt a fault with the hotel or airline but your planning.

Was the aircon unit inside or outside the window?

Half an hour late transfer at the end is also very trivial, and not worthy of mention.

As said above I have arrived at hotels abroad before noon (due to 6am flights out) and rooms havent been ready yet. This is to be expected, and its a nice bonus if they are ready.

Did you make a formal complaint at the time for any of these issues and do you have evidence of any of them?
If I’d suspected bedbugs (again, proof?) I’d not have just wanted a change of sheets I’d have refused to stay in that room.

I would be worried about bedbugs - are you sure that is what they were?  If so, you have undoubtedly brought them back and they will be tricky to eradicate from your house.  This would be a well justified basis for a complaint.
On the other hand, if they were bites from some insect or other these could most likely have happened outside the hotel and there would be no cause for complaint.

Yes evidence of everything, aircon fan was inside thr room below thr window  stupid place to put it regardless if it was safe or not.
Bed bugs, we're all over and came overnight thought I was itching in my sleep.

Is it a package holiday? Flights and accommodation together. If so you have more of a comeback.

If you have booked accommodation only then as we have found out, with James Villas  they normally state in the small print that your contract  is with you and the accommodation provider( Hotel)

It seems a lot of the holiday companies are doing this little trick if you book accommodation only  They take your money and in the small print it says that your contract is with the accommodation provider in that country. You are not advised of this through the booking process and are not given a contract.

I hope you’ve booked a package holiday. If so, you can complain to them within 28 days of returning. If you’re not happy, you can then take the matter further.

You may be able to look at some of the no fee no wins for the injury. However it has to be practical to take the case on the money, you may receive compare to the legal cost

The OP still hasn't said what time they arrived at the hotel or if they reported the bedbug problem to the Easyjet rep?

Certainly no compensation due for a wobbly ceiling fan or the return pick up being late.  Unlikely for the wait for the room to be ready.

I’d still want to know if anyone other than the OP identified the bite culprits as bedbugs, as it does seem to be more a presumption on their part.

Arrived at hotel at 1pm local time.
Bedbug bites were confirmed by local pharmacy as we bought cream for the bites.
It was also a package holiday.

You can ask for anything you like, but it's unlikely that there's any legal or contractual obligation requiring the package provider to issue a partial refund in these circumstances, although they may be willing to offer a token goodwill gesture.
