You will need his permission to sell the car.
Its not yours to sell1 -
IT normally states third party cover for a car that is insured.35har1old said:

I wouldn't worry about it yourself
You won't legally be able to move it as its uninsured so there not much you can do
for third party
Third party cover on someone else's policy would not qualify as being insured if on a public road.0 -
That would concern me as well.LightFlare said:You will need his permission to sell the car.

But if he does sell it I think he needs to account to his brother for the full sale price (less reasonable expenses).
If the brother bought it for £1500 and the OP sells it for £4000, he shouldn't just give the brother £1500 and pocket the rest himself1 -
Do the insurance co know you do not own the car / are not the registered keeper ?

You can still insure it, I lent my car to my niece and retained ownership but she insured it in her own name at her address.molerat said:Do the insurance co know you do not own the car / are not the registered keeper ?0 -
Not all insurance companies will insure someone who is not the registered keeper.
Note the registered keeper need not be the owner.0 -
Direct Line being an exception to "most" here, as neither my policy documents, schedule or certificate state any such requirement.Car_54 said:

Not all policies provide DOC cover, and most of them insist that the car has its own policy.
Anyway, irrelevant now as he's insured it.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230
