Honeypots exist. I don't know how prevalent they are though. I suppose nobody can know accurately by definition. Probably more likely to be found in public hotspots such as hotels and airports etc, where they're spoofing the hotspot. You'd have to be quite reckless to use an unsecured network or one you're not familiar with and transmit personal date, usernames, passwords...
