    We are mortgage free .
    I’ve had to move out of the property didn’t know if she can change the  title deeds without my permission?
  • In theory no unless she were to act fraudulently and forge signatures and witnesses etc.

    Are you married? Getting divorced? If so the property would need to be accounted for in the split. 

    Definitely register for alerts though with the land registry.

    No never married we  are tenants in common .
    We had a trust agreement in place but she says now she only wants to pay me my share I put in it’s an absolute nightmare ? That’s if and when she she gets a mortgage

    How long have you owned the property, and how much is it worth now vs. when you bought? She should buy you out at the current price, based on your contributions (as a %age share) - not just giving you back what you may have put in as a deposit.

    So if the house was worth £100k and you put in 50% of the money when you bought, and it's worth £500k now... then she'd owe you £250k, not £50k. You and she can negotiate on the percentages, depending on what she can borrow, as sometimes it's just not worth the stress and angst to be obsessed on a few %.
