Parking Eye/DCBL

Hi, a while ago, I explained how I was issued with a parking charge from Parking Eye. I explained to Popla and Parking Eye themselves that I was a guest at the hotel (my son attends swimming lessons at the gym, this grants exemption from parking charges), they decided to ignore this and now have got DCBL (I received a letter asking me to pay the fine within 2 weeks) to act on their behalf. How seriously should I take this?
