Hi, could anyone tell me what is the best online Will provider please? My dad wants me to sort out his and my mums Wills, they will be mirrored.
He doesn’t want to use a solicitor as as they already have Wills but he wishes to change them!

I have been looking at Which online but not sure if that’s the best one.
Thank you

There is no 'best' online will provider, because there is no substitute for the 'best' service of a properly qualified solicitor talking to your parents (in their own home if that works best for them) and asking all the 'what if' questions, some of which will only float to the surface in the course of a discussion with those making a will. And they will (almost invariably) ensure that the will is signed and witnessed properly, avoiding difficulties when it's time to use the wills.
Personally I'd phone around a few local solicitors and get a price. Unless your parents have hugely complicated affairs it shouldn't be expensive.Signature removed for peace of mind4 -
If he just wishes to change a detail of the will, he can write a codicil himself. As long as his signature is correctly witnessed, and it is stored alongside the will, not attached to it, it is a perfectly legal way to change an existing will. Your father may save himself a few £'s but it will be you that has to sort out any problems.
Buy them new wills as a Christmas present.
If you go to the original solicitor they may well have electronic copies and updating them is easy.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
When they change their wills, they void the previous wills, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't do the replacements with a solicitor?Liz65 said:Hi, could anyone tell me what is the best online Will provider please? My dad wants me to sort out his and my mums Wills, they will be mirrored.

When I redid mine, in the pandemic I had one in person conversation at the solicitors office, and then got drafts through by email + follow up questions. Once it was final, I went back to the solicitors office to sign my new will.0 -
PS While your father is talking about wills talk to him about funerals - cremation. church, etc.
I went to a wonderful funeral yesterday - the deceased had sorted out everything that she wanted. That makes things so much easier for the family.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Very bad idea, please get them to use a solicitor. If they have not already done so they should also get lasting powers of attorney in place although they bent need a solicitor for that.
What about you? do you already have a will and LPAs in place? If not they should be a priority on your to do list.2 -
Thank you all for advice.
I have already done LPAs for them through government site and waiting for the return which can be 22 weeks.
He has already asked the solicitor that did the previous Will but he wants too much apparently so doesn’t want to do it through him, he only wants to change it and leave it all to me on both Wills (for him and my mum) as they will be mirrored Wills. I am an only child and then it’s up to me to help my children if I want to.

Just checking that the survivor would have their own means on the first death? It's part of what a solicitor would check: if Dad goes first, does mum retain an adequate income of her own, and vice versa?Signature removed for peace of mind1

Hi thanks for new replies.
I have been looking at Which Wills and it sounds ok, the Will is straightforward as they just want mirrored Wills and when both pass away then it is all left to me only. Do I need a solicitor if its straightforward? Thanks again.0
