First baby passport - Confirm his identity question

Options
Hi,
I am applying for my baby's first passport.. i have completed the first stage but now i am bit stuck on the confirm his identity bit..

Its saying that the person that confirms his identity must know him for at least 2 years... But is only 4 months old?

Has anyone come across that issue? what did you do?

The paper form also asks how long you know the person for... Its a bit confusing to be fair..

Thanks

I think they should have known the PARENT for two years, not the kid.

Just get anyone eligible and willing to sign it - work colleague, manager, neighbour, etc?
  • Its the person who signs the declaration(the parent)  who must be know for two years

This what it says on the form: 'For some passport applications, HM Passport Office needs someone to confirm the applicant’s identity. This helps us to protect their identity and check the application belongs to the right person. To confirm someone’s identity, you need to have known them personally for at least 2 years – for example as a friend, neighbour or colleague.'

And the applicant is my son.. but i will get someone to sign and say that they know him for 4 months.. its definitely a generic form but sounds confusing

Yes, it's yourself as the person making the application and declaration, on behalf of your son, whose identity is confirmed by the countersignatory.

Why resurrect an 18 month old thread to ask?

The have to be something similar to the above or a retired person who's last job was. Note the two that are in bold, a manager of a limited company or vat registered business... they're the two that open it up to a vast range of people.

We have a running joke in our local because everyone now and then someone says they are struggling to find someone and then someone shouts out who can do it and about half the pub regulars put their hands up as there are several trades running their own limited company, the manager behind the bar, the publican, the manager at a nursery, a retired copper, a chartered accountant, a few other micro LTD directors etc.

It was our next door neighbours that I actioned - no mention of any status of the confirming source as I recall.
